The North Carolina Technology Association (NC TECH) is the statewide industry group for the tech sector. All companies, organizations and institutions are eligible for membership, given that technology is integral to all enterprises. NC TECH was incorporated in 1993 and represents nearly 700 members that collectively employ over 200,000 North Carolinians.
About the position:
The Association’s nine-person staff (plus several consultants) includes a Membership Department consisting of three positions (two management roles and one member-support role). One of the managers works out of the Association’s Charlotte Office, the vacant position will be based in the Association’s main office in Raleigh. The role is a blend of geographic focus (Triangle/East) as well as certain activities that support the overall membership sales/retention/engagement goals. The membership team should interact constantly, seamlessly, selflessly. The ideal candidate will contribute to that environment.

-Collaborate/Execute on growth plans to include retaining members, selling new memberships, and reaching new markets/segments. -Manage a portfolio of existing members to engage employees, contribute to cross-selling sponsorships/services and improve retention. -Manage a growing pipeline of prospects, outreach to set up calls/meetings and be professional and persistent in the efforts to close the sale. -Manage and build relationships with regional organizations and represent NC TECH at local business and technology events. -Manage regional volunteers who focus on membership recruitment and engagement, and who also help identify and deliver programming of interest to the region. -Keep staff informed on important technology/business announcements and local happenings. -Develop ideas for stories including member testimonials, profiles, interviews, etc. to be covered in NC TECH communications and social media. -Provide staff support for all NC TECH Signature events and other activities requiring all staff participation.
What you’ll need to Be Successful:
-Bachelor’s degree and 3-5+ years of experience in membership, fundraising and/or sales experience. -Familiarity and experience working with associations, chambers, university organizations, etc. -Knowledge of and contacts within North Carolina business and tech community is a plus. -Exceptional written and verbal communication skills (in-person and via calls/webinars, large and small groups), including the capability to work with executives and staff of all levels. Skilled at writing promotional materials, membership materials and newsletter content. -Ability to take initiative, manage multiple detail-oriented projects and prioritize assignments. -Good collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment. -Competency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), use of the web, savvy with social media and an aptitude to quickly learn and comfortably use other various technology platforms including CRM systems and prospect databases. -Ability for limited travel as well as some morning/evening commitments.
