Corrugated Packaging Designer/Engineer

Full -Time (40 hours/week)

Rex Carton Company, a leading manufacturer of custom corrugated packaging solutions in the Chicago area since 1948, is looking for a Corrugated Packaging Designer/Engineer, to join our team. We are seeking new and/or upcoming graduates interested in structural design and creatively devising solutions for customer needs. 

Responsibilities Include:

• Managing all local plant design activities
• Utilize Artios CAD Software
• Develop and improve upon current processes for managing the integration of design efforts with the needs of sales, manufacturing, customer service and our customers
• Build and maintain a library of designs for key market segments served
• Engage with production team to develop or reengineer packaging designs that reduce manufacturing costs and increase machine throughput
• Manage the condition of our design department infrastructure (Cutting tables, CAD Software, other support software), and the effective use of these tools to drive added value for our customers and improved efficiencies and productivity for our box plant.
• Conduct key customer packaging audits
• Implement creative ways to enhance box performance through a combination of paper technology, physical properties and innovative design
• Hands-on customer interface skills required; ability to interact at all levels of a customer’s organization
