Director of Marketing and Communications, reporting to the President and CEO, develops an effective nonprofit marketing strategy and manages the American Association of Exporters and Importers (AAEI) marketing and communications initiatives. The Director will oversee developing creative tactics to reach our target audience by designing programs and events, contacting outreach organizations, and guiding our advertising and sales campaign. The ideal candidate should know how to manage nonprofit marketing consultants and improve awareness of AAEI among international trade professionals and the international community. This requires intimate cooperation with AAEI members, Board of Governors, and Committees to develop and maintain an approach that will generate consistent brand messaging.
The Director’s responsibility is to identify opportunities for online traffic growth, improve earned and paid-media opportunities, and organize promotional and fundraising activities. Exceptional time-management and problem-solving abilities are a big asset. Working knowledge of project management software is an additional plus. The Director would grow AAEI’s brand, attract new members, and promote healthy relations with our business partners. This includes integrating a broad range of marketing, advertising, communications, and publications through multiple media channels with an emphasis on producing and managing a digital media strategy and integrating an online member community.
Responsibilities
Directs the development of creative and innovative approaches to member engagement campaigns.
Design and manage communication channels, including the content for the website, social media, program flyers, event signage, publications, and/or video production to improve the readership and viewership of all channels.
Develop and execute various elements as it relates to the Association's website, social media channels, email marketing, videos, etc. This will include brand guidelines, content development, advertisements/sponsorship managing, editing, proofreading, layouts, printing, and mailing or electronic distribution.
As the gatekeeper, format and execute email marketing to membership, including, but not limited to assisting with the Membership Department’s weekly e-newsletters, event promotions, and marketing for educational programs.
Maintain regular social media presence including messaging, comment correspondence, sharing, and updating information to increase utilization and usefulness to members and the public.
Responsible for the design, editorial schedule, and layout for all AAEI promotional and editorial materials.
Facilitate and coordinate media requests on behalf of the association.
Prepares speeches, talking points, articles, and presentations for the CEO.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant marketing or business field
7-9 years in a credible nonprofit organization
Portfolio of successful marketing/branding projects
Strong organizational and project management skills
Ability to maintain effective cross-sector communication
Familiarity with current nonprofit marketing and fundraising practices
Understanding of the federal legislative and regulatory process preferred, but not required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, preferably with media outreach experience
Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships
